Multicultural Day

Multicultural Day

Hello Fort!

Multicultural Day is coming up soon this Friday 14th August! This is a fabulous event where all Fortians and teachers are encouraged to wear their favourite cultural dress or colours on this day to celebrate Fort Street’s diverse environment.

Stalls & Assembly Performances

All students are encouraged to hold stalls on Multicultural Day including:

  • Traditional/art workshop (e.g. calligraphy or origami or henna)
  • Food and drinks stalls (IF no electrical appliances are required)
  • Dancing tutorial
  • Cultural dress-ups of traditional clothing
  • Traditional musical instruments
  • Cultural games

FOR FOOD STALLS: Only stalls that do not involve electrical or gas appliances will be running this year – though bake sales or sweet treats are welcome!

Sign up to hold a stall on the SRC Multicultural Day Stall google form or use the QR Code found on posters around the school. If you are interested in performing at assembly (i.e. cultural dancing), please complete this form instead.

Flag Bearing Ceremony

A part of Multicultural Day is an assembly that recognises and celebrates the wonderful diversity of the school. In this assembly, we will hold a flag bearing ceremony where students and teachers carry flags that represent their cultural backgrounds.

We are looking for students to sign up to be flagbearers for the ceremony. For this, you need to be dressed in clothes that represent your culture and carry the flag in the procession. If you are interested in being selected to do this, please complete this FORM. A maximum of 5 students can represent any one cultural group so it will be a case of first in, best dressed!

Please note it is not appropriate to nominate yourself to carry a flag of a culture that is not your own. Please treat this process and this event with the respect that is fitting.

Looking forward to seeing you all on multicultural day next Friday!

Thank you,
