Meet a Educate Plus Colleague

Margaret Hudson, Director of Advancement, Liston College

Margaret was appointed Director of Advancement at Liston College in April 2019, a newly established office to engage with the wider Liston community, develop relationships, network and generate income streams to provide for the unmet needs of current and future students. Margaret’s previous roles overseas with Youth With A Mission and the Leprosy Mission, followed by serving as a Community Development & Funding Advisor for the Department of Internal Affairs, Fundraising Manager for Hospice West Auckland and Grants Manager for The Trusts Community Foundation, have provided invaluable training and experience for developing the infrastructure necessary for this venture.

Priorities over the past two years have been to locate Liston Old Boys via LinkedIn and Facebook, create a database/engagement website hosted by Potentiality which went live in March 2020, and to launch the Liston College Foundation Fund (LCFF) in July 2020, managed by Auckland Foundation. With lockdown restrictions now eased, the emphasis is on meeting Old Boys one-on-one, seeking their advice on more effective engagement, together with strategies for developing a culture of giving to provide opportunities for future generations of students. As Liston College will also celebrate its 50th Jubilee at Queen’s Birthday Weekend 2024, Margaret has plenty of projects to occupy her over the coming years – and she is loving it!

Margaret with the Liston College Prefects was taken at the Cocktail Party to launch the Liston College Foundation Fund. The Prefects were invaluable welcoming guests and serving as waiters throughout the evening.
