When Voices Come Alive – The Stage 2 Oracy Showcase

The Stage 2 Oracy Showcase took place on Monday, 7 September, providing an opportunity for our Year 3 and 4 girls to showcase their developing oracy skills and enjoyment of performance.

Throughout the term, the girls have worked with great commitment to prepare their Reader’s Theatre. Their hard work was certainly evident on the day, with the finalists using their voices effectively to bring their stories to life. They worked closely as teams, listening and responding to one another to create well-timed and engaging performances.

The girls also made thoughtful use of actions, movement and sound to enhance meaning. Most importantly, they demonstrated a strong awareness of their audience, capturing attention and entertaining the crowd.

Congratulations to all of Stage 2 for their enthusiasm, effort and engagement throughout the process. A big thank you must also be extended to our Stage 2 teachers, Ms Felicity Permezel, Ms Tammy Jacobson, Ms Kate Jordan-Watt and Ms Rachel Maclachlan for the time and preparation that went into supporting the girls and bringing the showcase together.

A special commendation goes to our Showcase Winners and Highly Commended performers, whose outstanding Reader’s Theatres were recognised by our judges.

Winner: The Great Garbage Heist (Year 4)

Highly Commended: The Park of the Future (Year 4)
with Billie Evans, Temperance Kirchner, Emily Button-Kwan and Lark Xiao

Highly Commended: The Crocodile (Year 3)
with Daphne Teoh, Adelle Conomos, Ada Murphy Wood and Sofia Zhmurovsky

A special mention must also be given to our wonderful Year 4 hosts, Isabelle Chirakis, Hazel Costello, Ani Krilis, and Shanaya Purkayastha. They guided the audience through the showcase confidently and ensured the event ran smoothly from beginning to end.

We are very proud of the way our girls embraced the opportunity to use their voices, perform with confidence and support one another as a team. We can’t wait for next year’s Stage 2 Oracy Showcase!
