Inaugural SCEGGS Landscape Prize

A reminder to all students who are participating in the Inaugural SCEGGS Landscape Prize that paintings are due next Monday by 9.00 am.

The Official Opening will be on Wednesday, 29 July with speeches commencing at 5.00 pm in the Auditorium.

The exhibition will be judged and opened by Tom Carment, who is a highly regarded contemporary painter.

Tom’s portraits have been selected for the Archibald Prize 12 times, and his landscapes for the Wynne Prize eight times and for the Sulman prize four times. His works are held by the Art Gallery of NSW, City of Melbourne Art & Heritage Collection, NSW State Parliament, State Library of NSW, Kedumba Drawing Collection, Macquarie Group Collection and many other private and regional collections.

Tom was the winner of the 2014 NSW Parliament Plein Air Painting Prize, the 2008 Gallipoli Art Prize and the 2005 Mosman Art Prize. Over one hundred of Tom’s works were shown at the 2014 Dobell Australian Drawing Biennial at the Art Gallery of NSW. In 2008 the Hawkesbury Regional Gallery held a survey of his work entitled, People, Paddocks, Coastlines.

At the Opening, Tom will announce the three category winners for Primary, Junior (Years 7 to 9) and Senior (Years 10 to 12) as well as three highly commended works for each of these age sections.

Refreshments will be served and all in the community are warmly invited.

Select paintings will be for sale with proceeds going to the Let’s Build a School Foundation which is committed to social and economic justice through supporting and improving access to education in rural Cambodia. EFTPOS facilities will be available at the Opening.

The exhibition will be open: Wednesday 29 July  8.00 am to 3.00 and Thursday 30 July  8.00am to 1.45pm.

 

Co-curricular Classes

A reminder to all students wishing to participate in co-curricular classes for Term 3, to enrol via Clipboard. This term we offer:

Drawing: Mondays 3:15-4:30pm, Open to Years 7 to 12

Darkroom Photography: Tuesdays and Thursdays 3:15-4:45pm, Open to Years 8 to 12

Painting: Thursdays 3:15-4:30pm, Open to Years 7 to 12

Parents and Carers need to grant their permission for students to join the classes via Clipboard. The Clipboard sign up will close at 6pm on this Friday 24 July.

All classes will begin on their respective days in Week 2 starting 27 July.
