In Secondary School sports news this week read about:

Term 3 Sports Selection

The Term 3 activity selection for Secondary and Primary Sport are open now. Selections may be made via Clipboard. These are due by Friday, May 15.

Swimming

Congratulations to Kate Hawkins (Year 10) who was our sole SCEGGS representative at the NSWCIS Swimming Championships. Kate finished 6th in the 100m Breaststroke final against some tough competitors.

IGSA Cross Country

Congratulation to the IGSA team of 45 students who represented SCEGGS last Friday in the Cross Country Carnival.

SCEGGS fielded a strong team who competed with pride and resilience in chilly but great conditions at Frensham School. Each competitor gave it their all resulting in SCEGGS moving back into the Top 10 for the first time in a number of years finishing 9th amongst the 27 IGSA schools.

Following some outstanding results, these students will progress to the NSWCIS Championships in June:

  • 12 years – Emilia Laban
  • 13 years – Beatrice Emanuel (Gold Medal) and a Team Gold to Beatrice Emanuel, Clementine Finlayson and Christina Gouveros. Rosie Wong will also compete at CIS
  • 16 years – Annabelle Jessup and Annabel Lavery
  • 17 years – Harriet Christie
  • 18 years – Matilda Emanuel (Gold Medal) and Lily Cooney (Silver Medal)

Striders

Striders has kicked off to a great start with perfect weather and enthusiasm from all participants – we are out and about exploring the best of Sydney’s sites on our weekly Wednesday morning runs – it’s still not too late to join or trial a session.

Touch

On Friday 1 May, SCEGGS proudly took two teams to compete at the NSW All Schools Touch Championships in Gosford. It was a fantastic day of competition, with both teams progressing through to the semi-finals and ultimately finishing in the top four of their respective divisions, an outstanding achievement.

This success is a reflection of the players’ enthusiasm, commitment, and willingness to continue developing their skills beyond the Term 1 Touch season. It was also wonderful to see the continued support and dedication of our coaching staff, who played an important role in guiding the teams on the day.

Congratulations to all players and coaches involved for representing SCEGGS with such energy, teamwork, and pride.

Basketball

Well done to our SCEGGS 4 and SCEGGS 5 Basketball teams who played off against one another in the IGSA Competition. The match was a tightly contested fixture that changed leads multiple times with SCEGGS 4 eventually winning 14-12.

Football

Well done to the SCEGGS 2 Football team who defeated PLC Sydney 2 in a close match. SCEGGS won 1-0.
