NSW Health – Year 7 Vaccination Program 2016

HPV and Varicella Vaccinations 2nd Visit – Friday 5th August

Due to the movement of our Athletics Carnival to Friday 29th July, a further reschedule of date has had to take place for the second visit of the Year 7 Vaccinations.   We have secured a new date for this 2nd visit being Friday 5th August 2016.  As a result of these changes of date, the scheduled 3rd visit date will also change.  At this stage we have not been advised of when this will be.

Perfect Attendance Term 2 – 2016

At our first assembly this term, I congratulated the 131 students who will receive an award for perfect attendance for Term 2.  However I challenged the rest of the  College community with this question:

It is with great pleasure that we invite you to this year’s 25th Anniversary celebrations of Mary MacKillop Day on Friday 19th August 2016.  As per tradition, we start the day with a celebration of our faith with a Mass then follow the day with exciting activities promoting student talent.  We then plan to cap off the celebrations with a Carnivale.

Food, Drinks, Rides and Information Stalls

To ensure the safety of all community members, as you enter the College you will be asked to sign in at the Front Office and wear a special tag. Parents are invited to spend the whole or part of the day with the community.  Please note that students will not be allowed to leave early unless they have provided a medical reason or an emergency has occurred.

To ensure we can sufficiently cater and prepare for the day please RSVP your attendance to the 25th Anniversary Mary MacKillop Day festivities.

Please note there will be NO parking onsite, and we ask that you observe all road and parking rules and respect the local residents’ privacy and property at all times.

Please get your daughter to return the reply slip below to Student Services by 9:00am Monday 1st August.

Athletics Carnival – Friday 29th July 2016

The Athletics carnival was a great success.  A big thank you goes to Mr Gray for organising such a great community event. Some excellent performances on the track and field showcasing excellent athletic ability and talent throughout all year groups.  Congratulations to the students who have made it through to the SCC carnival later in the term.

OPAL Cards on School Buses Compulsory

As from Monday August 1st, students will not be allowed on the bus without an OPAL Card. There are also heavy penalties if they travel without a card. NSW Transport is cracking down on this and will be checking students on buses this week.

Can I ask parents to ensure they ask their daughters to have their OPAL card with them at all times.  Not having an OPAL card whilst using a bus service is against the law and carries heavy penalties.

The College does not control OPAL cards or applications for them.  These are handled by the NSW Government.

Term 3 Uniform Reminders

The vast majority of students are always excellently dressed and groomed. However a small minority of students need to be reminded of simple uniform and grooming responsibilities and expectations.

We ask parents to ensure they check that their daughters are in correct uniform and are appropriately groomed on a daily basis.

If you are unsure of any uniform or grooming policy, check the College diary or contact your daughter’s CLC teacher.

I leave you this week with an inspirational quote from Pope Francis and it relates to how we treat and relate to each other every day at Mary MacKillop Catholic College:
