Year 9

Year 9

Week 7 has been a busy and productive week for Year 9, with students completing several assessments across their subjects. I have been very impressed by the way they have approached this period, showing steady preparation, focus and increasing confidence in their study routines. As we move into Week 8 (Monday 7 September 2026), the final week of assessments for the term, it has been encouraging to see the maturity with which Year 9 students are managing their workload. I hope you are also able to see this growth at home, particularly in the way they are planning ahead, taking greater responsibility for their learning and continuing to develop positive study habits.

Year 9 also enjoyed another valuable session with Marianna Carlino, Director of eLearning, who explored a range of digital tools students can use to support their organisation and study. Students were introduced to practical options such as the To Do app, which can assist with creating lists, scheduling tasks and managing deadlines, as well as Quizlet, which allows students to make flashcards and generate practice tests to support more effective revision. These strategies are designed to help students build independence and confidence as they continue to strengthen their study habits.

Next Tuesday is the Senior School House Athletics Carnival, which is a compulsory school event and an important opportunity for students to demonstrate their commitment to school life. Year 9 students have been reminded that, as they move into their senior years, their attendance and involvement in key school events such as the House Athletics Carnival, House Swimming Carnival and House Chapel services contribute to their sense of connection and belonging within the School community. Consistent participation in these events helps students build a strong foundation for future leadership opportunities in Year 11.

Parents have been sent information about the carnival via Omnia.

I hope you have a lovely weekend and are able to enjoy the fabulous spring weather.
