Developing Tomorrow’s Innovators Through Robotics Success

 

On Saturday 25 July, several MLC School Competition Robotics teams attended the RoboCup Sydney Regionals workshop and competition. This friendly event helped students prepare for the upcoming state competition later this term while providing valuable competition experience and feedback from judges and officials. We were particularly pleased with the resilience demonstrated by all our students. Their efforts were reflected in the strong results achieved across the competition:

2nd Place – MLC School – Ollie Onstage, Mad Scientists

2nd Place – MLC School – Novice Onstage, Disney’s Got Talent

On Wednesday 29 July, our cohort of three teams participated in a VEX Robotics Tournament.  This is only our second year competing in VEX and, for most of the students, this was their first experience at a competition. It was an exciting and energetic day with multiple rounds of competing, demonstrating skills for points, and an interview with judges, all of which contributed to an overall score and judging of awards. While our teams did not qualify for the finals rounds, they represented MLC School with pride and resilience, gained invaluable experience and exposure to the competition format, and took inspiration from the more experienced teams around them. Two of our teams also received awards

 

The ’Think’ Award, awarded for high robot performance using autonomous code, to team – MLC School – Ramenites

The ‘Create’ Award, awarded for a creative approach to robot design and strategy, to team ‘MLC School – V-EXtreme
