Book Week in the Senior School Library

Last week, the Senior School Library celebrated Book Week and this year’s theme, ‘Symphony of Stories’. The Library showcased the Children’s Book Council of Australia (CBCA) shortlisted titles, while Wide Reading lessons provided an opportunity for students to discover and celebrate the work of Australian authors.

A highlight of the week was a visit from acclaimed Australian author Maryam Master, who spoke with Year 6 students about her books, her journey as a writer and the inspiration behind her stories. Her engaging and entertaining presentation offered students a fascinating insight into the writing process and the creativity involved in bringing stories to life.

The Wearne Library also held its annual Bookmark Competition, inviting students to create an original design inspired by this year’s Book Week theme or by books and reading more broadly. The competition attracted a wonderful range of creative entries.
