Dear Parents/Carers

Whilst it is imperative we never measure the value of a young person on test scores, it would be remiss of me to not highlight how incredibly proud we are of our boys and their performance in the 2026 NAPLAN (National Assessment Program – Literacy and Numeracy) examinations. These results indicate the strong foundations we are helping our boys to build so they can go on to do amazing things in their continuing education and also their lives beyond their education at Marist College Eastwood..

Some of the highlights include:

A message to the boys (and their families) who have done very well, congratulations. To the boys who may not be achieving the results you want to achieve yet (always have a growth mindset), the phrase “your future is shaped by the habits you repeat, not the goals you set” is a great philosophy to consider. It’s a popular quote from author James Clear (from the book Atomic Habits – a great read for everyone). Your daily routines and systems matter more than mere outcomes and are a great pathway to improving and future success. 

For the boys at Marist College Eastwood, make the little things a big deal so the big things don’t become a little deal. I’d rather be tackling issues with boys about uniforms and presentation than some of the much bigger issues we witness in the daily news. Boys get the daily habits right. Pack your school bag the night before, ensure your uniform is ready the night before, make sure homework is done when you receive it (don’t wait till the last minute), aim to always be early (to avoid the stress that comes with being late), say ‘hello’ and ‘good morning/afternoon’ to everyone.
