Dear Parents/Carers
Year 7-9 Parent/Teacher/Student Conferences
The Parent/Teacher/Student Conferences for students in Years 7 to 9 will be held on Wednesday 1 July and Friday 3 July. Wednesday evening is scheduled from 3:15pm to 7:00pm and will be face-to-face meetings to accommodate those who work and Friday will take place from 9.00am to 3.30pm online. Friday is a pupil free day for all students.
Students are requested to attend with their parents as valuable feedback on their learning will be provided and their progress will be discussed. Students and parents can also use this time to ask questions, share information and receive advice about their learning.
An important part of learning at Marist College Eastwood is feedback that will inform students on how well they are progressing with their learning goals. Often this will afford an opportunity for affirmation of your son’s efforts so far.
Optimal learning performances will be achieved by students who:
- Reflect critically on their learning goals and lead the discussion on strategies to enhance their learning.
- Seek feedback from their teachers on ways to improve their achievement in all future assessment tasks.
- Attend all scheduled classes and engage with the class work in every lesson.
- Complete all assigned class work and homework and seek feedback on the quality of the work.
- Ensure that time is spent each day on exercise and relaxation, or stress-reducing activities.
All Parent/Teacher/Student Conferences will be booked via Compass. The Compass portal will be open to make bookings on Monday 22 June at 8.00am and closes Monday 29 June at 8:00am. To book conferences please login to Compass, select the Community tab (2 heads) and then select Conferences. Attached to this letter are instructions on using Compass to book conference times.
Your son’s Semester One Report will be distributed via the Compass Parent Portal on Friday 26 June.
