Week 7

5 June 2026

Dear Parents/Carers

Champagnat Day

I want to extend my heartfelt thanks and commendation to each and every one of our students for their outstanding conduct during our Champagnat Feast Day celebrations. We were blessed with Ms Danielle Cronin (Executive Director of Sydney Catholic Schools), a number of our Marist Brothers from the adjoining community, Councillor Lyndal Howson (Ryde), Ms Jayne Sullivan (SCS Mission and Identity Team)  and last but not least Bishop Tony who celebrated our mass.

The reverence, maturity, and deep respect our boys demonstrated during the Mass was truly exceptional. Their active participation and impeccable behaviour reflected the very best of our school’s spirit, setting a powerful example for the entire community and honouring Saint Marcellin Champagnat’s legacy in a way that made us all incredibly proud.

That same energy and dedication translated beautifully into the afternoon’s festivities. It was fantastic to see the boys dive so enthusiastically into the various activities, whether they were showcasing their skills on the football field, competing intensely in the gaming tournaments, trivia, singing their hearts out in karaoke and just generally enjoying each other’s company. The way they balanced the solemnity of the morning with such vibrant, inclusive and fun-loving camaraderie in the afternoon is a testament to the wonderful young men they are becoming.

A huge thank you to all the staff who organised the day. In particular, Ms Jeannie Scevity (Director of College Enterprise), Ms Kelly Alcuri (Principal’s PA), Ms Mandie Calavrias (Student Reception), Mr Flavio Sordoni (Business Manager)  and Ms Melinda Alvarez (Assistant Principal) for their oversight and planning leading up to Champagnat Day. And in regard to the day itself, particular thanks goes to our RE team for organising the Mass, especially Mr Colm McCaughan (REC) and Ms Linda Codamo (Director of Wellbeing) for organising all of the afternoon activities.

Parent and Community Group

A huge thank you to the PCG team for their organisation and execution of a fantastic Trivia night at Ryde-Parramatta Golf Club on Saturday 30 May. A huge number of parents attended and participated in teams to take on the College Leadership Team. With relief, I am glad to announce that the College Leadership team took home the win and hopefully instilled confidence in the parents who attended that their sons are being looked after by a team of intelligent people. It was a fun night that I would encourage all parents to try and attend in future.

Year 7-9 Parent/Teacher/Student Conferences

The Parent/Teacher/Student Conferences for students in Years 7 to 9 will be held on Wednesday 1 July and Friday 3 July. Wednesday evening is scheduled from 3:15pm to 7:00pm and will be face-to-face meetings to accommodate those who work and Friday will take place from 9.00am to 3.30pm online. Friday is a pupil free day for all students.

Students are requested to attend with their parents as valuable feedback on their learning will be provided and their progress will be discussed. Students and parents can also use this time to ask questions, share information and receive advice about their learning.

An important part of learning at Marist College Eastwood is feedback that will inform students on how well they are progressing with their learning goals. Often this will afford an opportunity for affirmation of your son’s efforts so far.

Optimal learning performances will be achieved by students who:

  • Reflect critically on their learning goals and lead the discussion on strategies to enhance their learning.
  • Seek feedback from their teachers on ways to improve their achievement in all future assessment tasks.
  • Attend all scheduled classes and engage with the class work in every lesson.
  • Complete all assigned class work and homework and seek feedback on the quality of the work.
  • Ensure that time is spent each day on exercise and relaxation, or stress-reducing activities.

All Parent/Teacher/Student Conferences will be booked via Compass. The Compass portal will be open to make bookings on Monday 22 June at 8.00am and closes Monday 29 June at 8:00am. To book conferences please login to Compass, select the Community tab (2 heads) and then select Conferences.  Attached to this letter are instructions on using Compass to book conference times.

Your son’s Semester One Report will be distributed via the Compass Parent Portal on Friday 26 June

Reminder – Year 12 – HSC Trial Timetable & Instructions

29 May 2026

Dear Year 12 Parents/Carers

Year 12 HSC Trial Timetable

As we approach the latter half of Term 2, we enter a crucial phase in the academic journey of our Year 12 students. This period marks an important opportunity for students, families and staff to start working collaboratively in preparation for the upcoming HSC Trial Examinations.

Attached to this communication, you will find the official timetable for the HSC Trial Examinations, along with detailed instructions regarding exam procedures. We ask that students take the time to carefully review these documents and ensure they are familiar with the College’s Assessment Procedures. Adherence to these guidelines is vital to maintaining the integrity and smooth operation of the examination period.

Term 3 and the Trial HSC Examinations represent a pivotal stage in the HSC year. It is essential that students approach this time with focus, discipline and a commitment to consistent study. We strongly encourage students to establish realistic and effective study routines over the remainder of the terms as well as the holiday break, incorporating regular revision and practice to build confidence and competence in each subject area. The College will be running classes during the July holidays. A timetable of these offerings will be published closer to the holiday period.

We sincerely thank you for your ongoing support and partnership in your son’s education. Together, we can help ensure that each student is well-prepared and positioned for success in the final stages of their Higher School Certificate.

Kind regards

Ms Monique Brame
Director of Curriculum and NESA Accreditation
