University of Canberra Holiday courses

University of Canberra Holiday courses

The University of Canberra’s Faculty of Arts and Design (FAD) would like to invite year 10 – 12 students to attend our DiscoverFAD short courses these winter school

holidays. Our short courses are facilitated by our talented academics and are a great way for high school students to experience what life is like at University, and gain

an understanding of their pathways to get there.

Short Courses

This year we will be offering 6 short courses in study areas including:

  • Creative Writing: This short course will allow students the opportunity to be mentored by Dr Paul Collis in the creation of works that reflect their engagement with Aboriginal ways of thinking, knowing, being and valuing.
  • Journalism: Learn the basic principles of multimedia journalism and produce reporting for The Owl, the student publication of the Journalism and Sports Media programs.
  • Digital Media: Learn to kickstart your career in the entertainment industry by earning a residual income selling 3D assets of your own design online.
  • Architecture: This short course will explore creative spatial design strategies in the built environment: architecture, interior architecture, and landscape architecture.
  • Industrial Design: In this course, students will be introduced to the industrial design process by using robotic 3D printing technology to create a real-world product design project.
  • Interaction Design: This short course will introduce students to the rapidly growing industries in UX and UI design.

pathway to University for creative students who may not reach the entry rank to their desired course. Students can visit this page to find out the portfolio requirements and apply. Students can also enter the work they create in a DiscoverFAD short course to the UC Creative Competition.
