MESSAGE FROM THE PRINCIPAL

This is a special edition of our College newsletter specifically designed to celebrate a few key events which have occurred since the end of Term 3. We are incredibly proud of our students and couldn’t wait until our normal newsletter drop in Week 3/4 to share these with our wider community. The Townsville Junior Eisteddfod, State Rowing Championships and the Year 12 Formal are all celebrated in this edition.

I would like to acknowledge the mentorship offered by our expert teaching team and how much the staff go above and beyond to support our girls. Our teachers are more than exceptional educators – they champion the needs of our students. Three St Patrick’s College Townsville staff members have have been included in the prestigious 2021 QCT TEACHX Awards. Shortlisted from over 700 applicants, Ms Rheinberger and Ms Walkom have been named as finalists. Ms Finlay was also shortlisted in this year’s awards.

Ms Sue Rheinberger (Finalist – The Professor Betty Watts OBE Memorial Award for Outstanding Contribution to Teaching) and Ms Gayle Walkom (Finalists – The TUH Health Fund Dr Roger Hunter OBE Excellence in Beginning to Teach Award)

These three women inspire, challenge and influence our students daily. We are thrilled that they have been recognised and look forward to the final announcements set for the end of October.

The celebrations will continue over the next seven weeks; Term 4 is jam-packed full of events. There are so many opportunities available for our girls and I look forward to celebrating their many successes in the upcoming Speech Night.
