Celebrating Academic Achievement and Growth

Congratulations to all students who were recognised at our recent Academic Achievement and Diligence Assemblies. It was wonderful to celebrate the hard work, commitment and success of so many students. We were especially pleased to see many students maintaining the high standards that earned them recognition previously, while also welcoming a significant number of students receiving these awards for the first time. Celebrating growth is just as important as celebrating excellence, and we are proud of every student who has challenged themselves, embraced feedback and continued to strive for improvement. Every step forward is an achievement worth recognising.

Assessment Calendars Now Available – All Year Levels

Assessment calendars for all year levels are now available for students and families. We encourage you to review these regularly so that upcoming assessment dates can be planned for well in advance.

If your daughter is unable to complete an assessment by the due date due to illness or another unforeseen circumstance, all requests for an extension must be submitted through the Learning Hub via the Academic tile by selecting Illness and Misadventure and completing the online application form.

Please remember that supporting documentation, such as a medical certificate, is required for applications relating to illness.

Following this process is important as it ensures that the appropriate staff members are notified promptly and are able to assess and action the request as quickly as possible. While it may seem easier to email an individual teacher, doing so can delay both the response and the approval process. Using the Learning Hub ensures your daughter’s application is managed efficiently and consistently.

Year 12 Applied and Certificate Courses

Families of students enrolled in Applied and Certificate courses are reminded that, as communicated previously, all assessment and competency requirements must be completed by the end of Term 3. This is an important requirement to ensure students have the opportunity to successfully complete their courses. It is also a reminder that these classes will run during the upcoming Mock Exam Block to support this completion.

Students are reminded that any outstanding assessment or competency requirements associated with their Applied or Certificate courses must be completed by the required deadlines. Students who have outstanding requirements may have their Study from Home privileges temporarily withdrawn until these obligations have been met.

Families of affected students will be contacted directly via email with further information and the steps required for Study from Home privileges to be reinstated.

Students who do not have external examinations may be eligible to participate in Term 4 Work Experience. This provides a valuable opportunity to develop workplace skills and explore future career pathways.

To allow placements to be organised, all Work Experience plans must be finalised by Friday 28 August. Students wishing to participate are encouraged to speak with the our Dean of Pathways, Ms Camille Flores, as soon as possible to ensure arrangements can be completed by this date.

Year 12 Mock Exams

Year 12 Mock Exams are fast approaching and provide an invaluable opportunity for students to experience examination conditions, practise effective exam techniques and receive meaningful feedback on their performance. The feedback gained from these mock exams will help students identify areas for improvement and refine their preparation leading into the QCAA External Examinations. These exams may also be used in the determination of awards.

As mentioned earlier, Applied and Certificate courses will continue to operate during the mock exam period. However, we recognise that some students are enrolled in a combination of General and Applied/Certificate subjects. To support their preparation, students who have a scheduled mock examination are permitted to remain at home on the day before and the day of their mock exam to focus on revision and preparation. Students are expected to attend all other scheduled classes and course requirements outside of these times.

Year 12 External Exams

Preparation for the Queensland Curriculum and Assessment Authority (QCAA) external examinations should now be well underway. Students are encouraged to have a structured study plan in place that builds consistent revision habits over the coming weeks.

Families can support this preparation by encouraging regular revision, maintaining healthy routines and helping students establish a balanced study schedule.

Students should also carefully check the QCAA allowable equipment list for each subject before their examinations. Unauthorised equipment will not be permitted into the examination room, so ensuring all required materials are organised well in advance will help students approach exam day with confidence.
