CAMP WEEK

What a week it’s been! Our students from Years 7 to 12 have been scattered across some of North Queensland’s most stunning locations, diving into outdoor adventures, building resilience, and embracing every challenge with courage and spirit; an incredible week of growth, connection and adventure for all!

Thank you to our incredible staff for supporting the students this week. Photos will be available on the Learning Hub next week.

YEAR 7 – Mungalli Falls, Milla Milla

Down at Mungalli Falls, our energetic Year 7s tackled obstacle courses, low ropes, art sessions, archery and more. It was non-stop action – and we’re so proud of the heart and determination this group has shown!

YEAR 8 – Echo Creek Adventure Centre, Munro Plains

Despite arriving to rain and mud, our Year 8s at Echo Creek didn’t miss a beat. The camp offered a wide range of activities that encouraged students to step outside their comfort zones and build resilience, independence, and self-confidence. From archery and abseiling to challenge courses, healing pond walks and team-building sessions, each activity provided an opportunity for students to discover their strengths, form deeper connections with their peers, and gain new perspectives. It was a rewarding experience filled with laughter, learning, and personal growth.

YEAR 9 – Camp Gedling, Hervey’s Range

Our Year 9 students had an incredible time camping in tents and embracing the great outdoors. They faced their fears with abseiling, navigated the trails on mountain bikes, and challenged themselves on the high ropes course. The fun didn’t stop there – they also honed their archery skills, participated in an amazing race orienteering activity, and engaged in fantastic team-building exercises.

This camp was a wonderful opportunity for the students to develop their confidence, resilience, and teamwork, all while creating unforgettable memories. We couldn’t be prouder of their enthusiasm and spirit throughout the adventure.

YEAR 10 – Genazzano Retreat, Lake Tinaroo

Year 10 had a wonderful time at Genazzano Retreat. Set in a stunning outdoor environment, the students took part in a range of team-building activities including kayaking on the lake, raft building, an outdoor escape room, and various challenge and initiative tasks. Working together in their House groups, the girls developed their leadership skills and strengthened their sense of teamwork, all while embracing our Mercy value of compassion. It was a great opportunity for students to step out of their comfort zones and support one another in a fun and engaging setting.

YEAR 11 – Apex Camps, Magnetic Island

Our Year 11 students recently enjoyed an action-packed and meaningful camp experience at Apex Camps on Magnetic Island. Across the three days, they took part in a wide range of activities designed to build confidence, strengthen relationships, and grow their leadership potential. From raft building and bushwalking to beach games, radio rogaine, and leadership workshops, the students pushed themselves and supported each other through every challenge. One of the most special moments was the liturgy, which offered a quiet space for reflection on the College’s Mercy heritage and the legacy of leadership shown by the Sisters of Mercy. The camp was a great balance of personal growth, connection, and fun in the beautiful island setting.

YEAR 12 – Big Crystal Creek & The Strand

Our recent two-day Year 12 Retreat provided students with a meaningful opportunity to pause and reflect on their journey so far. Across a range of activities, they strengthened friendships, developed leadership skills, built resilience, and began looking ahead to life beyond school.

From swimming at Big Crystal Creek and a beachside liturgy, to a night in the College Auditorium with heartfelt letters from parents and guardians, and an energetic Amazing Race, the retreat was filled with memorable moments. It was a powerful experience that encouraged self-reflection, future planning, and deeper connection with others.
