MERCY DAY

Mercy Day, celebrated on 24 September, commemorates the anniversary of Catherine McAuley opening the House of Mercy in Dublin, Ireland, in 1827. Today, Mercy communities around the world come together to celebrate her legacy and the spirit of mercy that continues to guide us.

A heartfelt thank you to our Dean of Faith & Mission, Ms Andrews, for planning such a wonderful celebration, and to Sr Catherine Cuddihy, Ms Maree Church and Ms Jan Gill, who worked for months alongside our Mercy Girls in Action to create more than 600 yellow roses for our guests, alumni, staff and students. We also extend our thanks to Bishop Tim and Fr Sylvester for presiding over our Mass, and to the many Sisters of Mercy who were in attendance.

It was a beautiful day filled with joy, love and connection, with our students continuing the celebration through Mercy Works activities and putting the values of Catherine McAuley into action.
