OPTI-MINDS TEAM BOUND FOR STATE FINALS

Our Opti-MINDS Media Communication team has secured first place at the Townsville Regional Challenge, earning an invitation to compete at the State Finals in Brisbane.

The Townsville Regional Opti-MINDS Challenge was held at James Cook University, with teams challenged to work together to solve a creative problem within set time and resource limits. Opti-MINDS is designed to encourage students to think creatively, work collaboratively and come up with original solutions across a range of categories, including Science Engineering, Social Science, Language Literature and Media Communication.

For our Media Communication team, the weeks leading up to the challenge involved plenty of planning, creating and problem-solving. Ellie Ahern, Catie Price, Addison Kiernan, Ciarah Mataele and Zoe Clark spent lunchtimes, afternoons and weekends working on their submission.

From developing their idea and creating props to recording and editing their videos, the girls were involved in every part of bringing their solution together. There was plenty of trial and error along the way, but the team continued to work together and refine their submission right through to competition day.

Their hard work paid off, with the team taking out 1st Place in Media Communication category at the regional challenge and securing their place at the State Finals in Brisbane.

A fantastic result for Ellie, Catie, Addison, Ciarah and Zoe, and a great example of where creativity, teamwork and a willingness to put in the extra hours can take you. We wish the team all the best for the State Finals!
