SCIENCE WEEK

We celebrated National Science Week and embraced the theme ‘Seeds of Science.’ From mystery seed challenges, to liquid nitrogen ice-cream, forensic challenges, treasure hunts, a visit from Mary MacKillop Kindergarteners and a technical “Lab Olympics”, students got involved and embraced their curiosity.

The highlight of the week was at our Assembly, where the Science department put seed distribution on display with a Ballistic Dispersal experiment. This demonstration simulated exploding seed pods whereby plants use a smart trick known as ballistic dispersal to shoot their seeds far away without help from wind or animals.
