Firsts Report

The Firsts tennis started the season strong with a 9-0 victory over Sydney Boys High School (SBHS). Going into the weekend trailing on the leader board, the boys bound together and played some clinical doubles to take a 3-0 lead. With no sets lost, the boys went into the singles confident and piled up six quality wins to clinch the day. Special mention to Oliver De Cock, who played his debut match in the firsts and displayed an impressive mental display to win despite being a set down and to Josh Powell for winning his singles 6-0 6-0. The team regained the top of the leaderboard and maintained their unbeaten record.

Seconds Report

Shore Seconds tennis team had a great start to the second half of the season with a 9-0 win against SBHS. In the doubles, the new pairings Josh Cottee and Alex Yu had a strong win, dominating the game at the net. Taj Gupta and Anay Mishra Mall also held strong with a mighty serve-volley combination, closing the game out early in their first match as a pairing. Finally, Chris Hunter and Ralphie Fowler were victorious, winning the first set 6-0, showcasing control and limiting the opponent’s chances. In the singles, Josh Cottee and Ralphie Fowler set the tone, starting the first singles matches of the day with the intensity and determination to secure their respective wins. An amazing win from Anay Mishra Mall followed on his Seconds debut, winning 6-0  6-0, making his first game a double bagel. Alex Yu and Chris Hunter followed, with Chris starting the game with huge serves to close out points in an eye-catching battle. However, he was unable to finish due to an injury from the opponent’s side. Alex, losing the first set, fought hard to win the match in 3, ending the day with a flawless victory. The boys are eager for next week and ready to fight for another win.
