Golf Report

Saturday 1 February 2025

After a well-earned summer break, our golfers returned to competition this week, many having spent their holidays sharpening their skills on the course.

Our Matchplay team faced Waverley at North Ryde Golf Club, eager to continue the strong form we displayed in Term 4. Despite a slow round on a crowded course and conceding at least six shots to their opponents in every match, our players put in a dominant performance.

Our top seed, Luke Ellis, was in a strong position for much of his match but was unable to close out the win, ultimately halving his contest. Captain of Golf Harrison Graetz led by example with a commanding 6&5 victory, while Archie Frewin and Matthew Goddard secured wins of 5&4 and 7&6, respectively. This outstanding team performance extends our lead at the top of the table to eight points as we prepare for our next match against Newington.

Meanwhile, at Northbridge Golf Course, the remaining players contested the Monthly Medal strokeplay event. Zach France, Tom Gocher, and Lachlan Kwan also competed in the postponed final round of the Shore Strokeplay Championship, with Zach holding a four-shot lead heading into the round. While none of the players were at their best on the day, Zach successfully defended his title with a resounding 15-shot victory over Lachlan, with Tom finishing 3rd.

In the Monthly Medal event, Rob Kerr delivered the standout performance, shooting a net 65 to claim 3rd place in C Grade.
