Year 5 Da Vinci Decathlon
The Da Vinci Decathlon is an academic competition, this year hosted by Knox Grammar School, designed to challenge and stimulate the minds of school students. On Thursday May 22, a Year 5 and Year 6 team competed in the competition across 10 disciplines: Engineering, Mathematics and Chess, Code Breaking, Art and Poetry, Science, English, Ideation, Creative Producers, Cartography, and Legacy.
The team consisted of girls selected for their creative thinking and problem-solving abilities as well as their ability to work collaboratively as a member of a team. Throughout the day the girls amazed us with their team spirit and positivity as they competed against over 150 schools across Australia and New South Wales.
We are so proud of the Year 6 team for achieving 2nd in Ideation on the day! The team were collaborative, curious and persistent learners in all tasks and were fine examples of SCEGGS girls.
We would like to thank Dr Guss and Mr Sullivan who came along to some of our practice sessions in the lead up to the day. Their guidance in the areas of Science and Cartography were much appreciated by the girls.
Our wonderful Year 5 team: Eva Lobato Williams, Madeleine Chirakis, Ivy Zhang, Defne Aslan, Alice Chandler, Imogen Symons, Ava Yusiw and Maya Clark.
The fabulous Year 6 team: Annabel Ling, Dasha Jolley, Eva Geha, Harriet Hyde, Minttu Guss, Georgia Scott, Amelie Officer and Beatrice Emanuel.
