IGSA Athletics Championship Results

On Thursday and Friday in Week 5, 36 athletes from Years 7-12 competed at the IGSA Athletics Carnival. The SCEGGS Team achieved some impressive results, not only taking out first place in Division 3, but also beating all the Division 2 schools in the final points tally!

SCEGGS placed 10th overall out of 27 schools… A huge achievement for all athletes to be proud of!

Australian Snowsports Championships

SCEGGS sent 9 students to the Australian Interschools Snowsports Championships. Despite the conditions being less than ideal all events proceeded as scheduled. Well done to Adelaide Cowan (Year 6), Jessica Grace (Year 6), Cleo Harrington (Year 8), Gemma Shennan (Year 8), Holly Shennan (Year 6), Saskia Sostaric (Year 8), Evie Thorpe (Year 6), Hannah Walker (Year 4), and Bowie Whittle (Year 7).

Snowboard GS Cleo Harrington – 16th

Cleo Harrington also recently competed in the Thredbo Slam and managed to rub shoulders with a few famous Olympians!

 

Lifesaving World Championships, Gold Coast

Congratulations to Ruby Fry (Year 11) who represented North Bondi Surf Club in the Open Division on the Gold Coast last week. Ruby placed 7th in the Open 2km Beach Run and won a Silver Medal as part of the 3 x 1km Open relay. A wonderful effort Ruby!

 

Gymnastics

Well done to Alexa Falzon, Jamilla Yamani from Year 8 and Annalise Zimmerle from Year 9 who all represented Bunnerong Gymnastics Club at the NSW Club Championships that were held at Sydney Gymnastics and Aquatic Centre at Rooty Hill on the weekend.

Alexa Falzon’s Level 7 team placed 1st overall after placing 1st on bars, floor and beam. Annalise’s Level 7 team placed 5th on Vault. Jamilla’s Level 8 team placed 2nd on beam and 4th on bars.

We look forward to following their journey when the girls head to Nationals and then onto IGSA in Term 4.

 

Football

Well done to the Senior 1st Football team who defeated Ascham 3-1 on the weekend at Heffron Park. After a close first half, SCEGGS began to dominate throughout the second half with some excellent goals by Sophie Myles, Jemima Sewell and Lexi Wall. A great game from Tessa McCarthy (Year 12) who controlled the play superbly.

A special shout out to Heavenly Dwyer (Year 12) for her commitment to SCEGGS Football. At the completion of the match, Heavenly rushed off to sit her HSC Spanish speaking exam-well done Heavenly!

 

SCEGGS Around the Grounds

The Junior 1sts had a great win against Kincoppal Rose Bay 38 -26 last weekend

The Senior 2nds had a great tussle defeating Ascham 28 -22 in the netball at Heffron Park.
