IGSA Saturday Sport – Netball & Basketball Scoring

With spectators now allowed back onsite at most venues, we will be calling for parent volunteers to assist with scoring during matches, particularly Basketball.

SCEGGS Inter-house Cross Country Results

After several failed attempts we were finally blessed with good weather and able to hold our Secondary Cross Country Carnival on Monday morning at Queens. Congratulations to all competitors who turned up bright and early to participate. A special thank you to Ms Lisa Thompson who coordinated the morning and all the PDHPE Staff and coaches who assisted. Results will be announced at Assembly and published in the next issue of Behind the Green Gate.

Sailing – NSW Schools Teams Racing Competition

SCEGGS had a team who took part in the NSW Schools Racing Competition that was held over 3 days at Royal Sydney Yacht Squadron. Our competitors were:

  • Hannah Kernohan
  • Xanthe Kibble
  • Gemma Ashton
  • Olivia Chadwick
  • Isobel Payne
  • Grace Morrow
  • Simran Murphy
  • Georgia Cate Baker Wood
  • Abigail Tattersall
  • Michaela Docherty
  • Jessica Board

The SCEGGS team placed 11th overall competing against other teams from Cranbrook, Scots, Ascham, Wenona Redlands, Canberra Grammar, Monte, PLC Sydney, Sydney High and St Aloysius. This was an excellent result with limited preparation. Our sailors were happy to brave the adverse weather conditions. Over the course of the 3 days there was wind, rain, no wind and sunshine which tested their skills in various conditions.

In sailing competitors compete together regardless of age or sex. This made for some entertaining banter when competing and beating some of the larger boys’ schools.  Thank you to Sophie Hunt (mother of Isobel) for doing the boat official role and for Hannah Kernohan who organised and trained the team in the lead up.

IGSA Hockey

Congratulations to Jess Weatherall and Madeline Tudehope who were selected in the IGSA Hockey Team. They will now compete at the NSWCIS U’16 Hockey Championships next week. We wish you both good luck for this competition.

NSW Touch Regional Championships

SCEGGS had several students who represented Rebel at the NSW Regional Touch Championships that were held on the weekend on the Central Coast. Congratulations to Emma Juneja and Sophie Davis who played in the U16 competition. Lily Cooney played in the U14 competition. Both teams placed 5th and narrowly missed out on the semi-finals. It was a great weekend of very high quality of touch and our students played very well.
