Football

After a wet, slow start to the football season, our SCEGGS Footballs Teams have clicked into gear and are off to a flying start.

SCEGGS 1 are sitting at the top of the table following a 6-1 win against Pymble 2s at the weekend. A special thank you goes to Year 10 Bella Buckley and Ava Ertle, who travelled to Pymble after their own match and played for both SCEGGS 1 & 2 teams on the weekend.

SCEGGS 2 are currently in 3rd place overall after defeating St Vincent’s College 4–0 on the weekend. A shout out to Claire Gyton (Year 9), Lulu Weston (Year 8), Allegra Jonson (Year 9) and Molly Andrews (Year 9) who all played for the 2’s on the weekend and then played their own junior 1st match. Sage Galafassi (Year 10) played an excellent match in defence.

SCEGGS 3 have bounced back with a 3-0 win over Kambala after a close match against Kincoppal the week before that resulted in a 2-2 draw. Verona Floro (Year 10) was very strong in defence.

SCEGGS 4 defeated Kambala 4 with a 7-1. Playing in her first season of football, Freya McKinley-Rowe (Year 12) scored her first goals for SCEGGS. Shout out to Scarlett Sewell (Year 12) who scored a hat trick.

SCEGGS 5 have discovered their winning play after their 5 -0 win against MLC on the weekend and currently sit in 5th place overall. After playing for the Senior 2’s, Molly Andrews (Year 9) backed up with 5 goals! There was great team play that led to many of the goals scored.

SCEGGS 6 are currently in 3rd place overall after their 6-0 win over St Vincent’s College on Saturday. Josie Hatherall (Year 8) scored 4 fabulous goals while Lucinda Morgan (Year 8) and Ella Moufarrige (Year 9) also scored a goal each.

SCEGGS 7 have had a tough season so far and have had some narrow loses. Up against a strong Kambala side, the girls never gave up and fought back well in the second half and were rewarded with a goal.

SCEGGS 8 are sitting in 2nd place after a 5-1 win against Stella Maris. The team were focused on their passing skills and possessing the ball as opposed to the scoreline. They have been building their teamwork steadily throughout the season.

SCEGGS 9 had a tough game against Meriden and were defeated 6-0 after a close win against Kambala the week before. They are now 1 win and 1 loss to start the season.

Hockey

Congratulations to Maddi Soulos (Year 7) on being selected to represent Sydney East Hockey Association (SEHA) at the U14 Girls State Championships held in Wagga Wagga this past weekend. The competition was tight with 1 win, 2 draws and 2 close losses. It was a fun weekend with the girls learning a lot and developing their skills. We look forward to hearing how the team goes in Canberra on the June long weekend.
