Year 3 Netball

The Year 3 Netball competition has been taking place at Kambala this term, with SCEGGS, Ascham and Kambala competing against each other. Despite several washouts, the coaches have been impressed by the improvements the girls have been making each week. The sessions have involved specific skills practice, footwork drills and game play.

Keep up the fantastic work, girls. Your passing is looking good!

AFL Paul Kelly Cup

On Tuesday, a team of 17 students across Years 5 and 6 competed in the Paul Kelly Cup at Timbrell Park, Five Dock. The girls went undefeated in their round of games, winning 27-15 against Petersham, 29-0 against Orange Grove, and 31-6 against Drummoyne. The team came up against Petersham again in the final, and what a nailbiter it was! SCEGGS started strong and were close to scoring a goal, managing four behinds in the first half. Petersham came close to scoring in the second half, however the SCEGGS tackle and defence proved to be the difference, with the team coming away with a 4-0 victory. They have now been invited to attend the regional tournament on Wednesday 31 July at Timbrell Park. Congratulations girls. What an excellent achievement! We wish you the best of luck at the tournament.

Student Achievements – CIS Cross Country

The CIS Cross Country Championships took place on Thursday 6 June at the Sydney International Equestrian Centre. Two students from primary qualified, Beatrice Emanuel and Clementine Finlayson (both Year 5) and competed in the 11 Years Event. Clementine finished in 14th place and described the course as “wet and slippery”. Beatrice finished the race in 5th and will now go on to compete at the NSWPSSA Cross Country Championships on Tuesday 23 July as part of the CIS Primary Team. Well done girls. What a fantastic effort in testing conditions. All the best to Beatrice with her training over the coming weeks as well.
