Training Band Open Rehearsal

Last Friday, our training band hosted an open rehearsal for parents and friends, offering a delightful glimpse into our weekly practice sessions. The girls demonstrated their dedication and talent, performing several pieces, including the classic “Hot Cross Buns.”

The rehearsal provided an opportunity for the audience to see the band’s progress and the hard work that goes into each session. Our musicians not only showcased their pieces but also explained how they practice at home using backing tracks, illustrating effective ways to improve their ensemble skills outside of regular rehearsals.

Parents and friends were impressed by the enthusiasm and discipline of the band members, and we look forward to more events like this that connect our band with the wider school community.

String Performances for Kindergarten

Kindergarten students have the opportunity to enrol for tuition on violin, viola, and cello, with lessons starting in Term 3. Last week, the girls in Kindergarten were lucky to have two performances to introduce them to the string instruments that they can learn. The Primary String Octet visited the Kindergarten music class and played the beautiful Air on the G string by J.S Bach and the Stringalong String Ensemble performed two fun pieces at the K-2 Assembly – D String Daydream and Sunny Day Song.

If you are interested in your daughter enrolling to start tuition in violin, viola or cello please complete the Music Tuition Form here. Learning a musical instrument is lots of fun, both musically and socially, and once your daughter has had a term or two of lessons, she will be invited to join one of our four primary string ensembles at SCEGGS. If you have any queries or concerns, please contact K-12 Director of Strings Mrs Anne Sweeney.
