Ascension Day Service and Luncheon Performance – Thursday 18 May

Congratulations to the choristers and musicians who provided such beautiful music for the celebration of Ascension Day.  It was also wonderful to hear the performance of a Bach Prelude from our Organ Scholar – Chuyu Luo (Year 7) in the Old Girls’ Service.  Thank you to Miss Allison Harrigan for her direction and Mr Kurt Ison for his accompaniment on the organ.

The Old Girls were treated to two musical items in the luncheon.  Year 4 students performed Parrwang Lifts the Sky composed by Deborah Cheetham.  This item is one of the many items that will be featured in the Stage 2 Musical Concert this evening at 6pm. The Basie Jazz Band were also invited to perform, entertaining the Old Girls with Fly Me to the Moon by Bart Howard and In the Mood by Joe Garland.  Thank you to Mrs Cleworth with her direction and to Miss Harrigan for her accompaniment.  Thank you also to Ms Alison Ryan for her direction of Basie Jazz Band.

Congratulations – AUSTA Strings Festival

Congratulations to Bronte Lusted who performed The Gypsy Dance on Cello at the AUSTA Strings Festival on Monday.  String students throughout NSW were invited to perform at this event for performance experience and feedback from experienced string pedagogues.  Accompaniment was provided for each student’s performance.

Fellow Stringalong ensemble friend Alice Zhang also participated on the day. The students sat together to enjoy the array of performances. It was lovely to see them both perform along with so many budding cellists and violinists.
