The Red Balloon

As we commence Term 4, we enter the final stages of rehearsals for our Years 7-9 production – The Red Balloon by Albert Lamorisse, adapted for the stage by Anthony Clark.

The production is based on a beautiful short film made in 1956 and follows a small child as they follow a mischievous red balloon around the streets of post war Paris.

You can access it via YouTube here.

The film was awarded the Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay and the Palme d’Or du court métrage/Golden Palm for Best Short Film.

Our director Ms Poppy Lynch has assembled a vibrant cast for the play, and they have been working enthusiastically through Term 3.
