Year 5 Camp
Year 5 students had a wonderful three days at Tallong, where they took on a range of outdoor challenges and enjoyed plenty of time together as a group. Set on Gundungurra Country in the Southern Highlands, the camp gave students the chance to build confidence, independence and teamwork in a supportive and memorable setting.
Throughout the camp, students rotated through activities including high ropes, giants ladder, abseiling, mountain biking, bushwalks and nature play. There were plenty of moments that asked them to step outside their comfort zone, encourage one another and try something new.
Life at camp also brought its own routines and responsibilities, with students settling into bunkroom accommodation, sharing meals and helping out with the day-to-day running of camp.
The final evening was spent together around the campfire, looking up at the stars. A beautiful way to end the girls’ experience and to share a quiet, mindful moment together.
The Year 5 students are commended for the resilience, courage, problem-solving and kindness towards one another and their teachers that they showed throughout the camp. They represented the school with pride, embraced each challenge with enthusiasm and supported one another in all that they did. We look forward to seeing how these rich experiences continue to shape their confidence, independence and sense of community in the weeks ahead.
My heartfelt thanks to Mrs Gloor, Mr Hammond, Mrs Sweeney and Mrs Dempsey for joining us on Year 5 camp and for the thoughtful care they gave the students throughout the experience.
