Hope: SCEGGS’ 130 Anniversary Concert
We are very excited for our 130th Anniversary Concert on Monday evening. There are a handful of tickets still available (please see the SCEGGS Mobile App for booking links), with the concert beginning promptly at 6.00pm.
A few reminders about the arrangements for the day.
Secondary School
Students in Years 7-12 are not required to attend school on Monday. Year 12 students will have a study day while all students in Years 7-11, including all musicians, will meet their Form Teachers in Sydney Square (next to the Town Hall) for rehearsals.
- 10.30am: Year 7 Form Teachers to meet Year 7 students in Sydney Square, mark the roll carefully and then move inside for rehearsals.
- 11.00am: Years 8-11 Form Teachers to meet Years 8-11 students in Sydney Square, mark the roll carefully and then move inside for rehearsals.
Secondary students will be dismissed from the rehearsals at the Town Hall at approximately 12.30pm, unless they are required for additional music rehearsals throughout the afternoon. Precise rehearsal schedules for all Secondary musicians have been provided by the Music Department. Parents of Secondary girls who are in musical groups that rehearse throughout the afternoon should be aware that girls may be dismissed for short, unsupervised breaks in the vicinity of the Town Hall.
Primary School
Students in K-2 will have a usual school day, with lessons, co-curricular activities and After School Care activities (if required) running as usual on the Monday. For the rest of the Primary School (Years 3-6), girls should come to school in the morning at normal time and will travel by bus to and from the Town Hall accompanied by their teachers. Girls must arrive at school by 8.30am, and we expect them to return to school at approximately 1.00pm. Parents or carers may collect their daughter from school at 1.30 pm if they wish, but supervision will also be available for students in Years 3-6 from 1.30pm – 4.00pm that afternoon.
Arrangements for the evening Years 3 – 12
Attendance at the evening concert is compulsory for all girls from Years 3 – 12. Correct winter uniform including blazers should be worn by all students.
- Prefects will meet at the Town Hall at 4.15pm.
- Years 7-12 will meet their Form Teachers directly at the Town Hall at 5pm.
- Years 3-6 students have already made arrangements to either meet their teachers at School at 4pm to travel by bus back to the Town Hall accompanied by their teachers or meet at the Town Hall in Sydney Square at 5pm.
It is anticipated that the Concert will conclude just before 8pm. All students should arrange to meet their parents afterwards in Sydney Square promptly at 8pm.
As is standard etiquette at most concerts, any latecomers with tickets will only be admitted during a suitable break in the performance.
It is shaping up to be an amazing evening of music, celebration and connection, featuring the premiere of several new works commissioned specifically for the school’s birthday – we can’t wait to experience it with you!
