NELL GWYNN has opened!
Jessica Swale’s NELL GWYNN, took to the stage on Wednesday evening and has been received with plaudits galore.
The senior ensemble continue to present NELL GWYNN on Thursday June 13 and Friday June 14 at 7.00pm, and Saturday June 15 at 1.00pm in The St Peter’s Playhouse.
The time is the 1600s. Charles II has ascended to the throne. Prior to his reign, women were banned from appearing on stage. “The theatre was the domain of ACT-ors not ACT– oresses!”
That was until the likes of Moll Davies, Peg Hughes and the eponymous Nell Gwynn arrived on stages;
