Public Speaking at SCEGGS
Term 2 has started with great success for SCEGGS’ Public Speakers. Sadie Juneja (Year 10) and Jessica Gallie (Year 9) both competed in tough regional finals for the Rostrum Voice of Youth. Congratulations to Jessica Gallie who won her heat and will now compete in the State Final on June 22 at Shore School. Celia Watson (Year 11) competed in the Plain English Speaking Award, winning both her first round and the Regional Final. She will now compete in the State Semi-Final on June 14, this is an outstanding result in a tough competition.
Trials for the Junior Secondary Public Speaking Award, formerly known as Legacy Public Speaking Award, will be held in week 7 of term and the competition will be held in early Term 3. This competition is open to students in Years 7 to 9. Students must prepare a 5 minute speech on a topic of their choice and will also be required to deliver an impromptu talk. Anyone interested in signing up for a trial should contact Ms Walsh.
