Softball – Round 2
Four Pymble teams competed in round 2 of the Invitational Independent Schools Softball Competition on Saturday February 17 in hot and humid conditions.
Pymble Senior Firsts faced tough opposition from a dominant Brigidine College team. Despite the final score line showing a loss 7 to 0, Pymble have closed the gap compared to previous years. Our Senior Seconds needed one more run to tie the game but unfortunately, with one out remaining, fell short of a win. A commendable effort from our Senior Thirds saw the team narrowly lose to a Senior First opposition team, while our Junior Firsts faced the toughest team in the competition.
On Saturday 24 February, our Senior Firsts play against top of ladder, Barker College. Our Senior Seconds play Abbotsleigh’s Senior Firsts, whilst our Senior Thirds will compete against Abbotsleigh’s Senior Seconds. Finally, our Junior Firsts will be away from home again as they face Tara.
Results from Round 2 (Saturday 17 February) are below:
Team | Opponent | Result | Score |
Pymble 1 | Brigidine College 1 | Loss | 0 to 7 |
Pymble 2 | Abbotsleigh 2 | Loss | 13 to 14 |

Senior First Captain’s Report – Annabel Davidson (Year 12)
On Saturday 17 February, Pymble Senior Firsts competed against the challenging Brigidine Firsts Softball team. Despite the loss of 7 to 0, as well as the hot temperatures on the oval, Pymble’s defence was commendable, successfully limiting potential home runs and keeping the opponent’s score as low as possible. The team worked together to safeguard the bases, with our pitcher Zoe Bloom (Year 9), delivering exceptional pitches, and providing a tough challenge for the Brigidine opponents. Shoutout to Amelia Brandon (Year 10) for her enthusiastic coverage of the outfield, contributing to the overall defensive efforts of the team. Congratulations to all players on a great team effort! The team is looking forward to continually improving throughout trainings and upcoming games.
