Winter Rowing Update
On Sunday 6 August, our Pymble Winter Rowers went out on the water at Iron Cove for some fun and to develop their skills ahead of the Summer Rowing Season.
The Learn To Row (Year 7) Squad went out in Quadruple Sculls, working on body positioning in the boat ensuring they are in the strongest possible position for the boat to go as fast as possible.
The Junior (Year 8) Squad took the opportunity to train in Single Sculls, seeing how fast they could row individually.
The Intermediate (Year 9) Squad continued to learn sweep technique, rowing in Eights and getting ready to race the upcoming season against other schools in this boat class.
The Senior Squad (Year 10 and 11) took to the water in Coxed Fours and had some exciting side-by-side power stroke racing. This helps rowers learn how to make the boat go as far as we can per stroke.
Liesel Page (Year 12) – 7th in the World – Junior Women’s Double Scull
Congratulations to Liesel Page who celebrated a B-Final win at the World Rowing Under 19 Championships on Saturday 5 August in Paris. Liesel and her rowing partner Eliza Bridgefoot have now achieved 7th in the world in the Junior Women’s Double Scull. After a fast start, Liesel led after 500m and consolidated the lead to cross the line first ahead of the Chinese (2nd) and Belgian (3rd) crews. Head to the World Rowing page for full results from the regatta.
