From the Upper School
A message from Mr Tom Riley, Head of Upper School
It has been lovely to have some noise and energy back in the Upper School this week as our girls returned from their examination block. We also welcomed a few new students and excitedly had our Year 8 into 9 and Year 10 into 11 Transition Day. Both year groups were treated to a barbecue lunch with the rain just about holding off.
Year 10 enjoyed some activities outside post their lunchtime gelato, whilst our current Year 9s led circle group activities with the incoming Year 9s to discuss the Residential Program in its entirety. Both year groups then had extended talks as they met members of the Upper and Senior School staff. Our incoming Year 9s and new students also had a look at the plans and anticipated finishes for our new Upper School, which is excitingly only a month or two away from starting!

Elsewhere our Upper School Leaders led a Christmas themed assembly in the Chapel this week as the culmination of their year in those positions. Whilst there were a few technical issues, it did not dampen spirits with Christmas themed trivia and ‘just dance’ a particular hit.
Pymble Ladies’ College is excited to announce that we will be hosting a presentation/workshop “Winning’s a Lousy Teacher” by Dan Haesler on Thursday 23 November from 5.00pm to 6.00pm in the Kate Mason Lecture Theatre, with an opportunity for Q&A after the workshop. Athletes and parents will explore how mindset impacts their approach to sports and life, and will learn strategies to nurture their mental game, handle setbacks, and enhance performance.
Dan Haesler is a performance coach with a wide range of clients, including elite athletes and corporate leaders. The workshop is open to students in Year 7 to 12 and their parents who represent Pymble in a sports team. There is limited space, so please be sure to RSVP by Friday 17 November.

Mrs Gray, Mrs Harrison, Mrs Seymour and I enjoyed judging the Year 10 Food Technology cake decorating classes this week. The competition was fierce with so many amazing creations to choose from.

Volunteers Needed
Could you help your year group by organising social events? The current Year 10 group in Upper School is looking for 2024 SSPG year coordinators (for Year 11 next year). This can be a solo role, or if preferred you can share with a friend. You would be supported by the experienced volunteers of the Secondary School Parent Group with lots of guidance available, so new volunteers are most welcome. If you would like to get involved, please contact any of your current year coordinators below prior to 15 November to discuss.
