From the Middle School

Thank you to all the families who joined us at the Year 7 end-of-year Christmas chapel celebration last Friday. The event marked the end of a very busy year with many impressive achievements. Thank you also to Mr Howells and Ms Ventura for their investment and organisation of over 60 enthusiastic student volunteers who created and hung decorations, sang, read and performed throughout the service. It was such a joyous and happy coming together of our community.

On Wednesday of this week, we held our final Middle School Assembly where we acknowledged many of the girls across various fields: Academic, Co-curricular and Mind-Body-Spirit. The Year 7 students who were recognised for their consistent effort across academic subjects throughout Semester 1 and 2 were congratulated and it is a pleasure to share their names below. (Year 8 will be formally recognised at Speech Day next week.)

We look forward to our final Speech Day ceremony next Wednesday and hope that you can join us in acknowledging all students for their investment in life at the College across 2024. This annual event will also be an opportunity to celebrate over 100 individual Middle School students who will be formally recognised as award recipients. If your daughter is receiving an award, you will be notified by email.

Congratulations to Wendy Wei (Year 7) on receiving receiving first place in the Year 7 category for the Transurban Art Prize! Read her recount of the art ceremony below:

The Transurban Art Ceremony felt unreal! The atmosphere was so lively, where students from all sorts of schools came together to celebrate each other and celebrate their achievements in art. I was so lucky to get first place in the Year 7 Category with my artwork called ’50 cent Flower’.

The flower, a Rhizanthella Gardneri, and the Pheidole ant are both critically endangered due to habitat loss. The artwork is to show the connection between the two and to emphasise the beauty of our environment that is being destroyed. This spreads awareness to persuade people to protect the Earth and keep it thriving. Again, I am so very grateful to take part in this ceremony.

Year 8 Coffee Morning – tomorrow, Friday 29 November

We warmly invite you to the final coffee morning of the year. The catch up will be held at Brick Lane Expresso Café in West Pymble Mall tomorrow, Friday 29 November 2024 from 8.30am. We look forward to seeing you there.

Pymble Foundation Gala Ball 2025

The Gala Ball will be held on Saturday 5 April 2025 at Doltone House, Hyde Park.

It’s not too early to start planning for this wonderful black-tie event. We would love to gather our year group together and form a couple of tables. Organise a group of your friends to make a table of 10 or simply purchase your tickets and ask to be seated with parents from our year group. Tickets are $300 each or $3000 per table of 10.

Funds raised from this event will go to the Pymble Foundation Bursary Program, including supporting young girls facing adversity, displaced by war, or impacted by other catastrophic events.
