From the Middle School
Well done our Year 7 girls who represented Australia in the Opening ceremony at the Vex Worlds in Robotics. What a wonderful achievement.

Special mention to Addi Woods from Year 8 who competed at the CIS Swim and Diving Championship on Tuesday and has made it through to the State Diving Championship.

This week in Middle School we have launched the Gloucester Gathering schedule for Term 2 with a Dance Competition. You may remember that these are fun activities that occur across lunchtimes on Tuesdays and Thursday and are run by our Middle School Leaders. Everyone is welcome to join in and make new connections. Click here to see the schedule of events. Please encourage your daughters to get involved.

It was also wonderful to see our Middle School girls performing confidently at PAC: Pymble Performing Arts Competition across lunchtimes this week. Well done also to our Chapel Leaders who dramatized the bible message during our Service last week. All girls have been invited to get involved in this initiative in future Chapel Services.

We have been reminding the girls about the expectations around mobile phone use throughout the school day. Students in Middle School are expected to leave their devices in their lockers from 8.15 until 3.20. Thank you to Sophie Beveridge for designing the poster below for our Locker rooms.

On Tuesday I spoke to Year 8 about a National Exchange opportunity that will hopefully role out in Term 3. We have posted an Expressions of Interest link on the Parent Portal. Please fill this in if this is something you and your daughter feel would be appealing. Further information will follow once we get an idea of the possible uptake.
Congratulations to Alannah Tang, Cindy Jin and Leila Rich of Year 8 who have recently published their own books. Yes, an amazing achievement that demonstrates great initiative and perseverance. They completed writing their books independently at the end of last year and were fortunate to be mentored throughout the writing process by the author, Tim Harris.

Congratulations to the following Year 8 girls who received their Medallions for Cross Country this week: Amelia Bicego, Chloe Ayton and Nicole Zhang.

In the spirit of this year’s focus on Pymble Gives Back I would like to acknowledge the commitment of Olivia Randle (07WA) and Abigail Martin(07GA) who in the holidays raised $622 for Vision Australia. Both girls walked 50 km as part of the 100km requirement and were sponsored for their efforts. Well done.

At our Year Assemblies this week Michelle Hunt – Head of Wellbeing – spoke to the girls about Service across the college and encouraged them to log their commitments in order to track their hard work. We are hoping that across the year our Year 7 and 8 students will achieve eight hours of service. There will be many opportunities to engage in Service activities at school.
