From the Boarding School

From the Boarding School

It was lovely to welcome our Boarders and their families back to campus on Tuesday afternoon. I have to admit to feeling a little wobbly about leaving the holidays behind but five minutes with our beautiful Boarders sorted out any reluctance and I know I am not alone in planning on a fabulous Term 2.

A new member of our Boarding family

I am delighted to share the news that Holly Burke, our Head of Year 10 Boarding, and her husband, Mitch, welcomed beautiful little Eden Lin-Shu Burke to their family on 3 April. As you will see from the photo below, Eden is just gorgeous!

Leadership of Goodlet House

As Holly enjoys her maternity leave, the wonderful Kate Inglis, Head of Year 11 Boarding, will take on the additional responsibility of leadership of our Year 10 group, stepping up to the temporary position of Head of Goodlet House. Kate is excited about ‘officially’ adding our beautiful Year 10s to her area of leadership. Supporting Kate will be Jaimee Fischer, Taryn Mahoney and Neha Beri as Assistant Heads of Year, in addition to our trusty team of Boarding Assistants. I hope you agree this is an awesome team.

Food, glorious food!

Mealtimes remain an important part of our day here at Pymble and ensuring our Boarders have a nutritious and delicious menu is high on our agenda. Please click the following link to view the Term 2 menu. We are constantly seeking feedback and do make adjustments as the menu cycles through the term. Of course, your feedback is always welcome.

Supporting our Boarders to maintain good health

As the temperature goes down, the number of colds and infectious disease tends to rise. To this end, we will be working with the girls to have a strong focus on personal and environmental hygiene. We also encourage the Boarders to remain up to date, where appropriate, with vaccinations. If your daughter is yet to have the flu shot and/or is eligible for COVID vaccinations, please let us know so we can assist in organising appointments.

Should your daughter become ill with an infectious disease we will do all that we can to care for her here at the College. In line with Government recommendations, Boarders who test positive to COVID are required to isolate until they are symptom free and it makes sense to follow the same process for other infectious disease such as influenza. I am hopeful we will be able to manage the isolation requirements onsite and will keep you posted of our arrangements to make this possible.

Pymble comes to you!

The following weekend, I am lucky enough to be visiting Dubbo for the Boarding Expo. I will be joined by the wonderful Clair Stock and Jackie Garment, along with our fabulous Grace Peters who will be representing our Boarders. We would love to see you either at the Expo or at our event on Friday 5 May at Press. Please use the following link to rsvp if you are going to join us at Press.

Love It

We have an exciting term ahead filled with an action packed Love It program. The Boarders all received a program as they arrived back on Tuesday and there was a flurry of excitement over what was on offer.

This weekend our Boarders will be creating Mother’s Day gifts with Mrs Myles on Saturday afternoon, before heading out to see the Sydney Swifts take on the GWS Giants in the Super Netball.  On Sunday, Mr and Mrs Burgess will be taking a group of girls out to Bilpin for apple picking and lunch at Hill Billy Cider.  Our special thanks to to the McLaughlin family for treating our Boarders to this wonderful experience.

The link to the Term 2 program can be accessed below. I hope you enjoy leafing through the opportunities and planning with your daughter which events she will attend.
