Ryde Eisteddfod Highlights
Our Drama students recently participated in the Ryde Eisteddfod, showcasing their talent, creativity, and teamwork. We are thrilled to share the successes and highlights from this exciting event.
Congratulations to Amelia Hardas (Year 7), Ellie Lau (Year 7), Ella Gungor (Year 8), Isabella Benjamin (Year 8), Isabella Fung (Year 7), Annabella Bayfield (Year 8), and Dionne Jacobs (Year 7) for receiving a Highly Commended award for their performance of The Formal Club. This high-energy piece depicted a group of misfits who break into the principal’s office to alter their grades in a last-ditch effort to attend the formal. The students’ portrayal of the mischievous characters, coupled with a daring “mission impossible” movement sequence, made their performance a standout.
Our second group, consisting of Zoe Bloom (Year 9), Yvette Moodie (Year 9), Laranya Nanthakumaran (Year 9), Isabelle Port (Year 9), Katerina Economou (Year 9), and Grace McSweeney (Year 9), faced an unexpected challenge as one of their group members was unwell on the day of the performance. However, the group rose to the occasion, with Isabella Benjamin (Year 8) stepping in as an understudy at the last minute. Their performance, a humorous piece about a boy who mistakenly ends up attending an all-girls school for the day, was met with laughter and applause. Though they did not place, their ability to deliver a polished and entertaining performance under difficult circumstances is truly commendable.
I am incredibly proud of all our students for their dedication and hard work in preparing for the Ryde Eisteddfod. Well done everyone!
