Pymble Diving – Australian Age National Diving Recap
During the holiday break, nine Pymble students across Years 4 to 12 represented Diving NSW at the 2023 Australian Age Nationals held in Sydney from Thursday 13 April to Sunday 16 April. The week was exciting and successful with our Pymble students walking away with five medals, great experiences, and new achievements. Led by their Diving Captain, Nikola Puhl (Year 12), the team had the opportunity to compete in both the springboard and platform fields, in events with up to 40 competitors, and gain and strengthen friendships across both the NSW team and other states.
It was exciting to have such a large and diverse team of Pymble divers compete, with this team bound to grow and improve as we get back in the pool and set some new goals for the 2023 NSW Diving season.
In addition to diving, we had the pleasure of Charlotte Allen (Year 12) singing a flawless acoustic rendition of the National anthem for the Opening Ceremony from the 7m platform.
Beyond the experiences and opportunities this competition offered all the divers, it was incredible to walk away with such inspiring results. A special congratulations to Amélie Rahme (Year 5), who won gold and was the National Champion in the 11 and under 3m springboard event, and Zara Ware (Year 4) who placed 3rd and received a bronze medal in the 11 and under 1m springboard event.
Finally, congratulations to Méa Shires (Year 9) who had an outstanding Championships medalling in all three of her individual events, taking silver in the 14/15 Girls 1m springboard and platform events, and bronze in her 3m springboard event. This resulted in Méa being awarded the overall 14/15-year National Champion diver as well as being selected as one of four NSW representatives in the State team challenge. Congratulations Méa!
For a number of our Junior divers, this was their very first Nationals. It was an outstanding achievement to qualify for these Championships and to be representing NSW.
Congratulations to all our National Age competitors on such a successful Championships.
