Diving
Monday 21 August to Sunday 27August School Sport Australia Diving Championships were held at Sydney Olympic Park. These Championships provide the experience of competing with and against the best divers from across Australia and New Zealand.
This year Pymble was represented at School Sport Australia Diving Championships by Angela Xenofontos (Year 9), Méa Shires (Year 9), Emily Long (Year 4) and Zara Ware (Year 4). To be selected in a School Sport Australia team is a privilege and honour and is always the result of commitment to training and competition in the year leading to the event.
During this week the divers competed in springboard, individual knockout, synchronised diving, and Team synchronised events. With the daily training and competition throughout the week the divers executed hundreds of dives. In addition to the competition the NSW team participated in an educational experience to Darling Harbour which allowed for team social interactions and complimented a great week in the pool.
The educational outcomes gained from this week cannot be learned in the classroom. These Championships provide students the opportunity to pursue personal goals in diving, demonstrate sportsmanship, leadership and forge and renew relationships from their team and with their peers from other teams.
