World U20 Cross Country Trials

Last Friday, Eliza Lawton (Year 9) lined up for the World U20 Cross Country trials, racing over 6km at the purpose-built Cross Country course in Canberra. Eliza ran an incredibly gutsy race and has given herself the best chance to be selected in the Australian team to compete at the World Cross Country Championships to be held in Tallahassee in Florida. Eliza had a strong finish and made-up significant ground over the last 2.5km loop to finish an outstanding sixth. We wait in anticipation to see if Eliza is selected in the team of six to compete at the World Cross Country Championships.

I also congratulate one of our Cross Country coaches and Pymble Alumna, Caitlyn Tan, who finished an impressive eighth in the women’s 10km open race. A fantastic achievement and an inspiration to our girls.

I would like to take the opportunity to thank all our coaches for their dedication, enthusiasm and support of the girls throughout the year. A special thank you to our amazing Athletics Co-ordinator, Miss Dale, for all her behind the scenes work and her unwavering support of the program and our athletes.
