From the Upper School

A message from Mr Riley, Head of Upper School

Welcome back to Term 3!

It was great to see the girls adorning our Upper School spaces in the bright winter sunshine this week, and to hear the laughter return. It was a busy return to school with five new Upper School students starting and 18 exchange students arriving from Argentina, Scotland, England, New Zealand and Japan! We look forward to sharing their stories from home and encourage our girls to look out for them (you can’t miss them in their wonderful school uniforms) and to approach them for a chat. We also said goodbye to Maddie and Evelyn who are heading to South Africa for the next seven weeks and look forward to their exchange partners arriving later this week.

The break was a busy one for lots of our girls, with Upper School students showcasing their talents at Oxford University, on the slopes at Perisher and Thredbo, and many (including the amazing Lethy Levy) involved in sport outside of school.

This term we will begin discussions about leadership positions. I look forward to speaking to the girls about the importance of influence as a leader and shaping their understanding of the difference between intent and impact. Over the break I found this article that highlights the foundations of impactful leadership and hope that it might frame an interesting dinner table conversation in the week ahead.
