Round 3
Round 3 of the 2025 Santa Sabina Invitational Volleyball Competition took place this past Saturday. Our students had to battle the wet conditions, but we were able to get in all six of our games, with Pymble 6 having a bye week.
Our Year 7s (Pymble 7) had another impressive 3 to 0 win, which keeps them undefeated and on top of their ladder.
Pymble 5, our Year 8 Division 1 team, claimed another 3 to 0 win versus St. Scholastica, which also keeps them undefeated and on top of their ladder.
Pymble 4’s game was a back and forth match up against Loreto Kirribilli. Unfortunately, the deciding set just got away from our girls, but they can hold their heads up high for their efforts throughout the match.
Pymble 3, in a similar game to Pymble 4, losing by 2 sets to 1. The overall point score was 58/47, which meant there was only an 11-point difference over the three sets. It was amazing to see how reflective the girls were after their match and what they felt they needed to work on in training for the week ahead.
Pymble 2 had a comeback for the ages. Losing the first set by double digits, they didn’t let this deter them and they came back to win the next two sets, for a 2 to 1 win.

Senior First Match Report by Volleyball Captain, Olivia Ayton
Our comprehensive training sessions and refinement of team strategy were clearly reflected in this week’s game against Rosebank. We gave them no opportunity to take the lead, quickly gaining momentum with a succession of serving aces and winning the first set 25 to 0. Our opponents remained undeterred, however, featuring many more riveting plays and sustained rallies in the second set that attested to both teams’ tenacity. We secured the second set 25 to 14 our way, though a sudden deluge at the beginning of the third set presented some difficulty. Despite the reduced visibility and mud-slicked court, we maintained our composure and emerged victorious. Our movement to the ball and communication between teammates, which had been consistently targeted in past training sessions, proved decisive in securing our three-set victory. We will strive to uphold this level of performance and team cohesion in the weeks to come.
A huge well done to Year 9 student, Angela Bai, who stepped up after her Pymble 2 match to make her debut for the Senior Firsts.
