Volleyball Week 2

Round 2 of the 2024 Santa Sabina Invitational Volleyball Competition was held Saturday 26 October. It was fantastic to see the camaraderie amongst all students at Saturday’s competition, with so many arriving early to support the team playing before their game, and students supporting the next team on court. Our teams have now racked up an impressive 13 wins from 16 games, with five teams remaining undefeated.

Senior Firsts report from our Volleyball Captain, Chloe Gu (Year 11)

Pymble 1 showed fierce determination in their game against Monte in week 2 of the Santa Sabina competition, winning the game with a close 1 to 0.

The first set started off strong, but our players were quickly affected by the sun. This caused the team’s skills to drop, only just taking the set 25 to 23. Shout out to Olivia Ayton (Year 10) and Vicky Hu (Current 2024 Year 11, 2025 Year 12), for consistently moving to the ball and trying their best to keep the ball up and in the game.

In the second set, Pymble was down by 15 to 12 with players hitting a slump. However, this was overcome as players brought the energy, cheered each other on, adjusted to the situation and played smart and safely. The second set ended with a tie of 23 to 23, and our Pymble team took the game 1 to 0. We hope to see improvement in the next few weeks.
