Year 12 Visual Arts Bodies of Work Exhibition

Congratulations to all our Visual Arts students for the tremendously innovative artworks that you have all produced for your HSC. The diversity of media and range of sources of inspiration were so interesting to read about and view. Always a highlight of the year, you certainly did not disappoint. The ideas that you communicated through your art were so personal, complex and well-considered. Many thanks to your teachers and mentors who have guided you all through this demanding critical and creative process.

Year 12 Drama Showcase

Further congratulations to our students on their extraordinary performances at this year’s Drama Showcase. The diversity of scripts, coupled with innovative interpretations and commanding stage presence, made for a truly memorable evening. Each performance showcased not only the incredible talent within our student body but also the dedication and creativity that went into bringing these stories to life. A special thank you must also go to our drama teachers, whose guidance and support were instrumental in the success of this showcase. Their commitment to nurturing our students’ talents and encouraging their creative expression is deeply appreciated.

English Extension 2 Celebration

It was an absolute honour to hear from our English Extension 2 students as they submitted their major works, each one a testament to their extraordinary dedication and intellectual depth. The complexity and nuance in their projects revealed not only their creative talent but also a remarkable perseverance in exploring and articulating sophisticated ideas. The pride their teachers feel is well-deserved, as these students have truly demonstrated an exceptional ability to engage critically and creatively with their work. Grateful thanks for the guidance and mentorship provided by their teachers.

Year 12 Finishing with Style

Last week, I spoke to our Year 12 students about their final weeks at the College. This is a time of mixed emotions, including high excitement and nervous anticipation. I reminded them that it is an opportunity to reflect on their journey with joy, maturity, gratitude and pride. This wonderful year group has been distinguished by their deep pride in their school and their unwavering commitment to doing their best for each other and for themselves. While the end of their school days draws near, it’s important to remember that all timetabled classes and normal expectations continue, and that there is still much learning to be completed. These final weeks are an opportunity to consolidate their efforts, embracing the challenges ahead with the same dedication that has defined their time here.

Languages Week

Congratulations to our Languages Captains Kathie, Emily, Lisa and Amy, who lead a very successful Languages Week across the College last week. There were many fun activities for the students to engage with, resulting in a highly successful week, due to the planning and commitment of these leaders! Please find below a report from Kathie:

Salve, Buongiorno, Hallo, and Ni Hao from your 2024 Languages Captains.

We had a blast organising the annual Languages Week!

Monday kicked off with a bang, featuring our inaugural Masked Singer event with House in MBS, shoutout to all our mystery singers and their amazing dance moves!

Tuesday featured a bake sale, with cakes decorated to represent various cultures and languages. Thanks to our volunteer bakers, we were able to raise $121 for the Barbara May Foundation! Wednesday brought out hidden talents with an oratory competition, allowing participants to unleash their inner Cicero.

On Thursday, students became archaeologists, piecing together and translating ‘mosaics. The week also featured a joint House origami initiative, where each paper house folded earnt House points – stay tuned for the results!

Finally, we concluded on Friday with a thrilling game of Language Family Feud. Students and staff went head-to-head to see ‘what the survey said’.

Congratulations to everyone that participated! See you all next year!

Year 11 Examinations

I would like to congratulate the maturity and good sense of the Year 11 students as they began their first week of Yearly Examinations this week. Heartfelt thanks to the Year 12s who are showing their care and respect of their younger KM ‘sisters’ as they finish this milestone in their transition to Year 12.

Uniform

Now that the girls have moved back into their summer uniforms, with the warmer weather, could I please ask that all parents check their daughter’s uniform. In particular, please ensure that your daughter’s skirt is worn just above the knee and that she is wearing the correct socks.
