Student Instagram account launch
In Week 5, our Student Communications Prefect and SRC Prefects will be launching a private Instagram account set up solely for the purpose of showcasing and celebrating student events and achievements at Pymble.
All current Pymble students aged 13 and older are welcome to follow the account if they would like to. Please note there is no implied pressure for your daughter to follow the account. The existing channels of communication remain in place to ensure all students have access to key College information.
Only designated Prefects will have the ability to post content, which will fall under one of three categories:
- promoting/supporting upcoming student-led events
- call-outs for volunteers or spectators at these events, or
- post-event celebration and acknowledgement of students involved.
All posts and comments will be monitored by staff members who have volunteered to support the Instagram team and monitor conduct from Pymble followers.
The account we are creating will be private and unshareable, and it will reflect the Prefect theme for this year: Hear us Roar – 2024.
The only permissible functions are posts from the Prefects and comments/reactions from followers.
Before being accepted as a follower, each student will be verified as currently enrolled at Pymble and asked to read and acknowledge the strict terms and conditions of engagement which align with our College values and Student Technology Code.
Any inappropriate use or breaches of these terms and conditions, College values and Technology Code will be followed up with the appropriate Head of Year.
This launch is exciting for many of our students who have been campaigning to use Instagram as a communications tool among the student body for some time now.
Please be assured our staff have worked closely with students to put rigorous measures, checks and guidelines in place and will remain actively involved in monitoring the account to ensure it does what it is intended to do: provide a safe, inclusive and positive channel to help build engagement, pride and school spirit.
