Meet Pymble’s bus drivers

Every week we will feature a profile on one of our wonderful Pymble bus drivers. This week, we learn more about Peter on Bus 5 and what makes him tick!

Please tell us your name and a little bit about yourself.

My name is Peter and I’ve been driving buses for almost seven years now. In my spare time I like to go out and find interesting landscapes to explore and take photos of, and fly and take video using my drone. I’m also a football (soccer) fan and would one day love to go to the UK to watch Liverpool play a game at Anfield.

If any, what careers did you have before becoming a bus driver?

Prior to bus driving I worked in a variety of different industries which included installing video conferencing equipment, my own garden maintenance business, working at Woolworths head office as a shelf merchandiser as well as starting as a casual at a Woolworths store before working my way up to being a department manager at the same store.

Which Pymble bus do you drive and how long have you been a Pymble driver?

I do the Lower Northern Beaches run from Dee Why to the College, and have been doing it since the last two weeks of Term 3 2023.

You spend a great deal of your time on the road and have no doubt seen it all. What is your biggest pet peeve when it comes to Sydney drivers?

My pet peeve is the lack of patience some drivers show around buses, particularly when you see them trying to speed past and cut in front because they don’t want to be behind.

What is your favourite part of working at Pymble?

My favourite part of working at Pymble is the group of drivers we have and that the students and staff are all very friendly.

Where is the best excursion/charter location you have driven to for Pymble? If new to Pymble, what other locations have you enjoyed driving to?

My favourite location to drive to has been Vision Valley.

What was your favourite subject at school?

My favourite subject at school was biology.

What is your favourite holiday destination?

My favourite holiday destination is a toss up between Aotearoa, New Zealand, and Tasmania, both for their incredible amount of different landscapes found in a small area.
