From the Boarding School

Boarder voice is super important in helping us maintain a happy, healthy home where wellbeing is a priority. There are variety of forums in which our Boarders can provide feedback, most significantly our Boarders’ Representative Council (BRC) is key in providing student voice and enhancing the boarding experience for all.

There are two BRC representatives from each year group and these girls have the responsibility of representing the views of their cohort and feeding back outcomes from matters raised. I am delighted to announce the following BRC members for the 2024 year.

Year 7 – Emma Roberts and Mads Gaden

Year 8 – Phoebe Pockley and Annika Maslin

Year 9 – Rose Kirby and Addison Seeto

Balmoral Adventure

Last Friday our fabulous Year 8 Boarders headed out to Balmoral Beach for a sunset picnic. Although the water temperatures were crisp, many were brave and enjoyed a paddle around the famous wharf. As the sun started to set, the girls enjoyed kicking a footy and a bite to eat on the shores before travelling back to Boarding (we hear there was plenty on singing on the journey home!)

Bowling Adventure

Saturday night was full of excitement for our Marden ladies as they headed on a bowling adventure to Chatswood. The girls showed off their bowling talents with a few landing strikes throughout the Evening! It was lovely to see the girls encouraging one another, as a few tried the bowling for the first time. After bowling, the girls enjoyed dinner together

Macquarie Adventure

Due to the rain over the weekend, our youngest Boarders were treated to a shopping adventure to Macquarie. Many used the adventure to prepare for end of year celebrations whilst admiring the Christmas decorations in stores. The girls enjoyed lunch together whilst watching the ice-skating which was a treat!

What’s on this week:

Friday: Year 10 Balmoral Adventure and Year 7/8 Sleepover

Saturday: Manly Adventure

Sunday: Bondi to Bronte Walk and Lang Housewarming

View From My Window

Hi, my name is Sophie Webster! I am a Year 8 student and I have been Boarding since Year 7. I live on a property of about twelve and a half thousand acres with my parents John and Kerri and my big brother James. Our property is situated between Cowra and Boorowa in a little village named Reids Flat, New South Wales approximately four hours from Sydney.

The thing I love about Reids Flat is that you know everyone in the community because it is so small. On our farm we have lots of animals including sheep, cattle and a fat horse called Marge. We also have five dogs, four of them being work dogs and one being our pet black Labrador, Lottie. We also have a cat called Spike that always wants food and has a very soft spot for my brother James.

For a few years we have experienced lots of floods. This year was different though and we haven’t had that much rain so Dad is irrigating our crops, so they are tall and healthy. They should be ready to harvest around Christmas time.

When I am at home I also love riding on my CRF 230 and in the summer we go skiing with friends and family. I play with Lottie to give her a lot of exercise but I also take her in the buggy in which she sits in the front seat with you or on top of you!

Even though living on a farm can be hard and not knowing what the weather is doing, my family and I wouldn’t choose anywhere else! I love being home on the farm with my family that is a beautiful spot and I am very lucky to live there.

Boarder of the Week

Congratulations to our Boarder of the Week, the wonderfully talented Airiana Chan. Airiana joined us from Hong Kong at the start of the year, and has been a thoughtful, caring and supportive Boarding Sister to her younger peers. Airiana has contributed to our Boarding Community throughout the year, with outstanding musical performances at Boarders’ Chapel and community events. Airiana has an outstanding work ethic, and is always seen studying hard during the Evening Study Program. She never fails to uplift Goodlet House when practicing her violin on weekends.

Airiana is proud to be a Pymble Boarder, with her immaculate uniform and room. Her smile and friendly nature makes her well regarded among her peers. Congratulations Airiana on a well-deserved Boarder of the Week.
